This is a list of some notable Australian federal legislation. (Note that the selection criteria are not explicit, and recent Acts not included, so you may miss many other interesting Acts.)
All current Australian legislation is available online at ComLaw (Cth Attorney General's Dept), AustLII (UNSW/UTS), or for those with access to a licenced source, LexisNexis AU's LawNow. ComLaw is the official source, for this one jurisdiction, and only has legislation, including historical versions. AustLII (free access) and LawNow (paid) are multi-jurisdictional re-publishers which also host cases and case citators (LawCite and CaseBase, respectively) which can 'Note Up' references to a whole Act or a specific section in legal case judgements, some law journals, and even law reform reports (LawCite).
To find the current consolidated version of any Act, go to ComLaw or AustLII and search on front page box for the name of the Act and its year: "Copyright Act 1968". [If you are citing them, italicise the name and add the jurisdiction abbreviation in parentheses after the year: "Copyright Act 1968 (Cth)"]. To find an earlier consolidated version, go to ComLaw's Series button after you find the Act, and select a version between the dates of interest. To find an original or amending Act 'As Made' (not the consolidated version with all amendment incorporated), go to ComLaw or AustLII 'Acts as Made' collections; note they only go back to 1973. To find cases about an Act or section, go to AustLII LawCite, LexisNexis' Casebase or Thomson's FirstPoint, and enter the Act name and year in the field 'legislation judicially considered', with the section either in the separate Section field (LawCite), or specified using syntax (Casebase and Firstpoint).
